It seems everyday I think of more stuff I need to get and things I need to do. Best I can fiqure I 'm out a least a year or so.

The location that I live at right now is bad for a number of reasons so a move would be in order for me to be "ready" for SHTF.

You're right though, the more stuff you buy will make you think more seriously about it, which means the more you think you are going to need.

Are we talking just economic meltdown and following unrest?

US declares "Marshall Law" and people begin to disappear up smokestacks in broad daylight - most of the population will deny that this will happen now and then?

Full scale nuclear strike by Russia, China soon followed by a ground invasion of foreign troops and other angry countries who hate us?

Instead of buying more and more stuff, I'm concentrating on: what if my primary location is wiped out? what if I can't return to my primary location?

Preparedness is a mindset in that I may possess all of the survival toys real money can buy, but what if I can't obtain or use them?
An individual needs to be flexible, and able to improvise regardless of which manner of excrement makes contact with the oscillating implement.

I firmly believe that having good, trustworthy friends, equally prepared, and in diverse locations, serves as the best preparation: akin to a "living cache."

Halo? by that I mean that no matter how ready you are, for what is to come, there is always something else to do or to get.

Getting ready is a never ending story and if you think that you are ready then there is something wrong with you.

Well thanks to this forum I think I could manage in most situations. To be really prepared though I think I'm about a year off.
